Kamara in Soho launches festive Eastern Mediterranean cocktails and announces New Year’s Eve celebration

Kamara, the cocktail bar in Soho founded by Tasos Gaitanos and Alex Large, has launched a new festive drinks menu, available throughout December. And, even better, they’ve announced plans for a late-night New Year’s Eve party.

The seasonal menu, available now, was developed in collaboration with drinks consultant Angelos Bafas and features four new creations designed to reflect the flavours and traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean. The Tuvunu Hot Toddy heads up the list, combining Kamara’s own fig brandy, Metaxa 12, Greek mountain tea, fermented figs in honey, fresh lemon and hot water. Other offerings include a Mulled Americano (made with Santorini dessert wine and Kamara cherry brandy), the Melomakarono Old Fashioned (which includes biscuit-infused bourbon, British burnt butter and spiced honey) and the Spiced Manhattan (featuring aged apricot spirit and Christmas-spiced vermouth).

Located on Poland Street at the former site of The Blind Pig, Kamara is the latest project from Gaitanos and Large, who also run Brother Marcus, a group of Eastern Mediterranean-inspired restaurants in the capital. The bar’s interior, designed by Finch Studio, incorporates Cretan pottery, bronze elements and a cave-like ceiling intended to evoke the textures and warmth of the region. Drinks continue the East Mediterranean theme, among them a Tuvunu Highball (fig brandy, Greek mountain tea and fig leaf soda), a Coffee and Honey Old Fashioned (bourbon, coffee and cacao distillate, burnt butter and honey) and a Smoked Pepper Daisy (mezcal, tsipouro, smoked tomato spirit and basil oil). One of the more distinctive offerings is the Mahleb, a gimlet featuring Axia mastiha and Tsipouro macerated with Essex-grown cardamom leaf.

The celebration on 31st December will run from 10pm until 2am and includes a welcome cocktail, live DJ sets and a midnight champagne toast to ring in 2026. Tickets are on sale now, priced at £35 per person.
