Vagabond Wines brings back festive cheese fondue with new black truffle upgrade

Vagabond Wines has reintroduced its seasonal cheese fondue offering across its UK bar locations for this winter. Available at all Vagabond venues, including its newest sites at Liverpool Street and the First Dates Restaurant at Paternoster Square, the fondue returns with a new black truffle upgrade aimed at enhancing the dining experience for groups, couples, and festive gatherings.

The dish, which proved popular during last year’s festive period, features a traditional Swiss cheese fondue served with toasted baguette, soft-herb potatoes, and pickles. This year, diners can opt for an upgraded version that includes black truffle for an additional £6 per person. The base fondue is priced at £22 per person.

Additional accompaniments such as pigs-in-blankets, portobello mushrooms, and Serrano ham with gnocco fritto are also available as optional extras. The offering is intended to be shared among groups and is paired with a selection of wines available at Vagabond’s self-serve wine bars.

The return of the fondue comes as part of the brand’s seasonal menu and reflects the company’s aim to create a sociable and interactive dining experience during the colder months. The initiative is also seen as a way to drive footfall during the festive period, following the dish’s commercial success in 2024.

Christobell Giles, Managing Director of Vagabond Wines, said: “Fondue was pure joy last year – it gave guests permission to gather, indulge, and have fun, and it delivered real commercial results too. We wanted to build on that energy rather than simply repeat it, so this year we’ve turned up the flavour dial. The black truffle upgrade is for people who really want to enhance those winter moments. It’s a classic Vagabond move: keep the experience playful, keep it delicious, and give people a reason to come back.”

Vagabond Wines operates nine locations across London and Birmingham. The company, characterised by its self-pour wine machines and urban winery in Battersea, was acquired by Majestic Wine in April 2024. It plans to expand its concept to other UK regions in the coming years.
