Killer Christmas classic Silent Night, Deadly Night gets a brutal reboot

The festive season is set to get a bloody twist as Silent Night, Deadly Night – a reboot of the notorious 1984 cult slasher – arrives in UK and Irish cinemas on 12th December 2025.

Reimagined for a new generation by director Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn, V/H/S/85), the film breathes fresh terror into the chilling tale of a traumatised boy who, after witnessing the murder of his parents by a man in a Santa suit, grows up to become a killer himself. Haunted by his past, he dons the red suit and turns Christmas into a deadly countdown, targeting the naughty with violent retribution.

Set in a snow-blanketed small town, the reboot blends brutal slasher thrills, psychological unease and even a touch of romance. Rohan Campbell (Halloween Ends) stars as Billy, the disturbed anti-hero at the centre of the carnage, with Ruby Modine (Happy Death Day) co-starring as Pamela. The cast also includes Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown and David Tomlinson.

Silent Night, Deadly Night marks the first theatrical release from STUDIOCANAL’s new in-house genre label, Sixth Dimension. The project brings together the original 1984 producers Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead, alongside Jamie R Thompson and Erik Bernard. Sixth Dimension acquired global rights (excluding North America) to the film and will handle distribution across several territories.

Principal photography wrapped earlier this year, and the film is being positioned as a standout entry in the current wave of horror reboots – offering a modern take on a title once banned for its controversial portrayal of a murderous Santa. With Sixth Dimension launching their slate with this festive fright-fest, all eyes are on how this updated vision will land with horror audiences old and new.
